Quick tour

The markbook lets you see your students' progress for all the work you set.

By the time you have looked through this, you should be familiar with navigating and viewing the information in the markbook.

1.  Go to the markbook

Select the Markbook icon from the bar at the top of the page.

2.  View the markbook

You can see all the students for a given class, all the tasks that you have set this class, and all the corresponding marks.

Use the arrows at the top to move backwars and forwards in time, or jump to the earliest or latest tasks that you set this class.

The blue shading is darker for higher marks and lighter for lower marks. Where there is no numerical mark, the shading is grey.

3.  View markbooks for different classes

You can view the markbook for any of your classes by choosing from the drop-down on the left.

You can also view markbooks for classes from previous academic years — just look for class names with an academic year in parentheses, such as Class 8x/En2 (2015/2016) in the screenshot above. Please note that only students that are currently enrolled will appear in the markbook.

4.  Select a student

When you select a student, you will see the option to either go to that student's profile page or to view their individual marks and feedback.

5.  View a student's marks and feedback

You can see all the marks and feedback for an individual student for work set by any or all of their teachers.  You can select which teacher you would like to see work for and whether to include tasks that are hidden from the markbook.

Choosing the Archived Tasks tick box allows you to see current tasks or ones that have been previously set, marked and archived.

6.  View task options

If you select a task you have the options to do the following:

Highlight - helpful if there are particular key or assessed tasks that you would to make more visible.

Toggle Mark Displayed - you can choose whether to display the grade, numerical mark or percentage in the markbook.

Hide Task - perhaps there is a task that is not important to track in the markbook. You can hide it from the markbook.

Go to Task Details - this option takes you to the task view where you can edit, mark and change how the task is shown in the markbook.

7.  See feedback for each mark

You can view more details on the mark, percentage, grade and feedback for each mark in the markbook by selecting the mark.
