Configuring different login methods

Enable or disable the various login methods that are available to users logging on to the site.

Enabling different login methods

  1. In the Control Panel, choose Modify Site > Authentication.
  2. Enable or disable a login method:
  • To enable a login method, check the box next to Allow logins via. You can change the display name for a login method by typing your text under Description for end users.
  • To disable a login method, uncheck the box next to Allow logins via.
  1. Select Modify Site to save your changes. The login screen will be updated to display your chosen login methods.

Available login methods

Login method Comments
Cloud users Allows users to sign in using accounts which are automatically generated based on identities stored in the MIS for both students and staff (as well as Parents if you have the Parent Portal module enabled) and uploaded using the Cloud Uploader.
Site login (Firefly) Allows users to sign in using accounts which are stored and managed exclusively within Firefly. These accounts are completely separate from Cloud accounts (above).
Google account (SSO) Enable users to be signed into their Firefly account automatically using Google credentials. If their Google email address matches the email stored against Cloud or Site login account, the two will be linked automatically. Otherwise, users can manually link their Firefly account to any Google account using the Account Settings option in the user menu to the top-right when logged into the site.
Office 365 (SSO) Enables users to be signed into their Firefly account automatically using Office 365 credentials. If their Office 365 email address matches the email stored against their Cloud or site login account, the two will be linked automatically. Otherwise, users can manually link their Firefly account to any Office 365 account using the Account Settings option in the user menu to the top-right when logged into the site. To approve Office 365 at a school level, sign into Office 365 as an Administrator then follow this link.
